Cloud Computing – With the early release of Google’s Chrome OS, there is major excitement on the possibilities of what can be done on the cloud. With the coming of 4g, cloud computing
is able to extend your hard drive to a size of infinite proportions. It will be interesting to see what cloud computing will bring to smartphones that have limited hard drives. With cloud computing solutions, the size of these hard drives can be expanded upon and multiple background processes can be done on cloud servers, freeing up ram on smartphones.
Wireless Charging - Wireless power isn’t anything new but every year it gets better. Be on the look out for technologies that remove the need to have a big bulky case around your smartphone and that actually work. The main problem these technologies have continuously faced is standardization. Because there is no wireless charging standard, it’s very difficult for any technology to gain significant traction with OEMs.
Glasses Free 3d - I saw one example of this technology at last year’s CES and I thought it was amazing. Then Nintendo rolled out with this same technology on their DS system. I’m interested to see what TVs, tablets, and smartphones will include this new technology and the effects it will have on the user experience
