I recently went to the Sprint store with my girlfriend to go phone shopping. Her current phone has been her workhorse for far too long and she could really use a new one. We spent about an hour there, but we had to leave empty handed. Why? Because there were no phones that really gave her exactly what she wanted. Buying a phone is a significant investment (which is why you need to protect it with Phone Halo), so why spend money on something you’re not entirely happy with?
That’s where Synapse Phones steps in. They aim to solve this problem with customizable smart phones. They promise to “build your smartphone always with the newest technologie available. You choose what you need and what you want, without paying a lot of money for features you never use.” You don’t use your camera often? You don’t have to get a 5000 megapixel one with a electron microscope attachment. Need to store your entire movie collection on your phone? You can get the largest flash drive known to man. The idea behind it is choice. Which, in my opinion, there can never be enough of.
Synapse is currently shipping to the EU, U.S., Canada in Q1 of 2011 so you’ll have to wait unfortunately. All the phones run on Android 2.2 and have pretty good standard features to begin with.
