A few months ago, I switched from Comcast to Verizon Fios thinking my TV watching experience might get a little better.  Nothing really changed: I’m was still sick of flipping through channels without finding anything to watch, and paying too much for the service.  If there was something I actually want to see, I knew what time it came on (e.g. the Daily Show at 10pm) and planned my evenings around that.  Then I discovered Hulu, giving me the freedom to watch whatever I want whenever I want to.  But let’s be honest: streaming TV is a huge pain, and watching it on a 13-inch screen is no fun.  The tiny screen almost justifies turning on Fios, even if it means resorting to watching Burn After Reading for the 5th time this year.

As usual, Google’s one step ahead of me.  Today they unveiled Google TV, their latest technology that will let me watch Hulu on a normal sized screen.  There’s also a search bar right 0n the screen, so we can all stop endlessly scrolling through TV Guide.  I’m really excited about this: it means I might actually turn on my TV for the first time in months, AND I can stop paying for Fios.  Jackpot.
